We have many ministry opportunities going on each week to help you connect with others, grow in your faith and use your gifts. If you are a new youth to BUMC in the 7th-12th grade, we hope you will join us on a Sunday night for worship, small groups, and youth choir.

We are looking for a few additional sponsors for the 2016 school year.  If you are interested in building a relationship with a student at one of our partner schools in South Africa in order to help them form a God-centered, educational foundation contact Rebekah Harbison at

Brentwood Society Church

In 2007 Brentwood UMC funded the construction of a church building for the  Tumbleweed community. Named the Brentwood Society Church, this facility provides a place to worship God, as well as houses a preschool and fosters economic opportunities for the community which struggles with extreme poverty, illness, and a lack of educational opportunities.

Sponsorship Information

Child Sponsorship:  Partner with a Student at Brentwood Society Church for $300 annually.

Teacher Sponsorship:  Support a teacher at Brentwood Society Church for $500 annually.


Angels' Care Centre

Angels' Care was established by concerned residents in the Umngeni Municipal area to address the needs of desperately poor children from the local informal settlements. The aim of the organization is to focus on assisting children through the provision of pre-school education, aftercare facilities, a feeding and health care program.  Through support, Angels' Care has been able to obtain their own facilities consisting of a caretakers cottage, and 3 new classrooms.

Sponsorship Information

Child Sponsorship:  Partner with a Student at Angels' Care for $300 annually.

Partner with a Student with special needs at Angels' Care for $500 annually.

Teacher Sponsorship:  Support a teacher at Angels' Care for $500 annually.

Thembelihle Preschool and Primary School

Members and friends of Brentwood UMC have provided support for impoverished children at Thembelihle Pre-School & Primary School (the private school started and supported by Howick Methodist Church) in many ways.  In 2008, a building was purchased to expand the preschool into a full preschool and primary school servicing students through seventh grade. Currently the school is thriving with the construction of a library. 

Sponsorship Information

Child Sponsorship:  Partner with a Student at Thembelihle for $500 annually.

Teacher Sponsorship:  Support a Teacher at Thembelihle for $1,000 annually.
